9 Surprising Ways to Serve at MotelChurch

By Adam

Most volunteers only experience MotelChurch on the weekends during our worship services. They never see the massive effort it takes to ensure these life-changing services consistently occur each weekend.

You may be surprised to find out that it’s all done by a tiny group of volunteers on a big mission from God. But more on that later.

My favorite part of serving at MotelChurch

MotelChurch is where my passion and my talents collide. Nothing brings me more joy than using my God-given skills to help people that God has placed on my heart. MC put me to use for God. It didn’t matter what skills I had; there was a place for me.

To serve in other ministries, I would have to be good with kids, or I would have to be a singer because leading worship was all there was to do. Not at MotelChurch. MC was a blank canvas for me. I could take everything God gave me and put it to use for the people God placed on my heart. That’s a blessing, and I continue to give thanks to God for my small role here at MC.

What could be more fulfilling than using the skills you have for the people that God put on your heart? What if you took your unique talents and interests and used them to serve others through MotelChurch?

If you’re already part of the MotelChurch Community, you already serve those on your heart. But maybe God is nudging you to take it to the next level. Maybe there is a job that God has set aside just for you and he’s waiting for you to accept the position.

That’s what I’m talking about here.

Whether you’re a prayer warrior, enjoy social media, or you just like talking to people on the phone, you can make a difference by being part of a MotelChurch team.

Remember that tiny group I mentioned? The trusty volunteers who make this whole thing work? Well, that group is growing, and we’re looking for passionate people who want to put their talents to work for God.

Nine Ways to Serve

Nine New Ways to Serve

To get you thinking about the different ways you could serve God through MotelChurch, I’ve included nine areas where we actively look for help from volunteers. These are essential departments within our ministry, so we’re always looking for qualified people who are willing to work hard.

Note: If you’re interested in any of these, and would like to join the team, you can go here to fill out our interest form.

Admin

If you like paperwork, scheduling, coordination, spreadsheets and keeping track of stuff, this is for you. We can always use someone with a gift for project management and administration on the team. Our small ministry is growing, and we need people with administrative minds to help build our infrastructure.

Prayer Team

Ways to Serve Prayer
If you love praying for people, if you just like talking to God, join our prayer team. You’ll be praying for the needs of the homeless and working poor men and women we serve. Additionally, you will pray for the leaders and for the ministry as God continues to stretch us.

Healthcare

Did you know the MC has a healthcare team? If you have any healthcare experience or interest, join the crew that works with MotelChurch doctors and nurses to bring medical assistance to people who desperately need it. You don’t have to travel far to put your healthcare experience to use for the poor. With MotelChurch, you can get started in your own backyard.

Research

Are you a Google fanatic? We need you. From demographic research to contact information for new vendors, there’s plenty to search. Among other things, you’ll help us find motels in new areas. It’s fun, and you’ll see new motel churches sprout up as a result of your work.

Speaking

Ways to Serve Speaking
Are you an experienced speaker? Have you taught in your Bible study or presented in front of groups? Want to step out and see God use you to reach others? Speaking may be for you.

Communications

Do you have skills in social media, graphic design, photography, SEO, web development, writing, or ad management? (Just to name a few.) You will be part of the team responsible for getting the message and vision of MC out into the world so that God can touch them.

Events

Ways to Serve Events
If you like all the behind the scenes work that goes into an event, then we have a place for you. Whether you enjoy doing little projects, running errands, or you like to wrap gifts, the MC Events Team may be your next stop.

Resources

Our motel guests are constantly in need of help. Join the team that puts together lists of resources for food, shelter, education, employment, medical assistance and all of the other needs guests may have. Your efforts could help save a life.

Children

Ways to Serve Kids
Do you just love kids? You can help us bring Jesus to the children by sharing crafts and stories at a MotelChurch service. Sadly there is no shortage of children residing in these motels. Your work could bring them hope.

The next step

Okay, if you’re interested, what’s next? It’s easy, just go here and fill out the form. We’ll then connect you with the team that matches your interests.

Every week lives change because we’re all working together. It’s an unbelievable experience and a joy to work with others who share a passion for the lost living in rundown motels. Each member of the team has unique talents and backgrounds that all brought them to this ministry, and it excites me beyond words to see them all working together in tandem to serve God.
